Job description
Director of Engineering is primarily responsible for providing management in preparing and executing engineering and construction projects and managing associated contractors. They work closely with Business Development to ensure projects progress appropriately. They provide leadership in the execution of work, including defining work scope, engineering & construction specifications, permitting activities, managing engineering consultants and construction management services, as well as overseeing cost reporting controls and construction scheduling for new projects. Intermittent travel required to project sites as deemed necessary and occasionally to business related locations to support project needs.
Responsibilities/Expectations
- Works in conjunction with Business Development to progress projects.
- Manages vendors/contractors to ensure they deliver the value and services for which they have been contracted.
- Monitors and supports the implementation of project controls to ensure project costs, schedule and scope are met.
- In collaboration with project engineering provides expert level input to the technical review process to ensure designs are consistent and within established guidelines.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of strategies to meet company and corporate goals that integrate technical, operational and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures deliverables are prepared and submitted to appropriate stakeholders.
- Works closely with construction site management during the field construction phase of the project.
- Monitors and reports progress of the Design, FEED, or EPC Contractor works.
- Prepares technical reports and presentations for company personnel during each phase of the project
- Prepares and documents all work and make thoughtful and concise recommendations to management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Years of Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited university. Prefer ME. However, CE, EE, CHE and CS will be considered. Required
- 8-12 years of total relevant experience in energy, project management and/or other related field. Required
- Pipeline, Meter Station, Compressor Station and Storage industry experience in project design and project management. Required
- Expertise in Pipeline operations support. Required Skills and Abilities
- Sound working knowledge of project quality management systems and applicable codes and standards for design and engineering purposes.
- Strong technical management abilities with effective project management and leadership skills possessing initiative, decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities to analyze data, identify issues, recommend, develop, and implement solutions.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of construction techniques and practices in the natural gas industries.
- Ability to organize, plan, control, coordinate, and effectively manage cross-functional assignments and projects.
- Ability to manage construction activities and control projects in order to achieve time, budget and quality metrics. Licenses and Certifications
